Beth Mardutho: The Syriac Institute

eBound awarded Beth Mardutho: The Syriac Institute a grant to digitize rare works on Syriac Christianity and make them accessible to the world. The grant included a loaned scanner and IT equipment as well as funds for scanning services. The Institute has thus far digitized over 400 volumes.  “I have been collecting rare books on Syriac since I was a teen. Most of these books, published by the heritage community, is not accessible to the wider public. As I think of myself as a custodian to these printed books rather than their owner, I am happy to share them with the wider public. The eBound grant to digitize my private collection makes that goal possible,” George Kiraz, Founder and Director of the Beth Mardutho Syriac Institute said.
